If you've had trouble accessing this site (as have I, fear not, I've moved it to a new web host.  Shouldn't affect you in any way but my apologies if there's been any problems.

And with this host, I don't need the banner disclaimers anymore!

A computer can be a vicious, rabid, wildly uncontrollable dog or it can be a cuddly companion, protector and helper. Virtually any computer or dog can go either way and it's all in how they're trained and treated.  So don't let the computer get the best of you. It's a machine! A piece of equipment... an appliance.  A hunk of plastic and metal.  You wouldn't let the toaster get you upset and worried would you? Relax. It'll be enjoyable after some setup. Think of it as the kid's bicycle kit. A PITA to put together, but once it's done, it's enjoyable.

And something else that needs to be addressed.  Some folks leave that microwave sitting on the counter because they don't know how to use it and/or they're afraid to use it.  Have you ever heard the "I might break it..." line?  Time for a little "tough love". You need to get over the fear of hurting your machine! If you're afraid to run an antivirus, firewall, spyware stopper, spyware remover, defrag, backup, disk scan, etc, you'll only hurt your machine in the long run. Many people treat their computers like their children but if you neglected a child the way some people neglect their computers....well, you know.  Don't become one of them. Do a backup and take charge of your machine. Again, it's only a piece of equipment!  Make that computer work for you, serve you and please you.  Rule it, don't be ruled by it!  They smell fear!  :)

Couple of tips for AVG users

Increase the number of download locations and clean up old files occasionally.

Great sites on the net.

Security & Viruses deal with security & viruses.  Simple, huh?

Netiquette, and  Humor & Fun  should be self-explanatory too.

Ad-aware Settings will give you some help in setting Ad-aware for increased protection.

And one more thing.  There's no sugarcoating here.  Let's get something straight.

"...there are no stupid questions,
 just stupid people."

 - Mr. Garrison

And he's right.  How many times does it need to be said that there are NO stupid questions?  Now let's call it what it is.  Is it you're afraid to ask?  Afraid to let someone know that there's something you don't know?  That's a phobia and nothing more.  Virtually everyone has their own phobias.  I have mine.  And I know there's only one way to deal with phobias and that's to face them.  Now for those of you who are so arrogant that you have to rationalize your phobia by claiming someone will make you "feel stupid", get off your high horse.  As Jack Nicholson said in As Good As It Gets "Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here".  First of all, nobody knows it all.  Shouldn't have to be said, should it?  I'm stupid on a lot of things.  Gee, that didn't hurt.  And people knew it anyway.  Everyone is stupid on something and in realtiy everyone is stupid on a lot of things so quit obsessing about a silly word.  If everyone was so paranoid about someone else knowing something they don't then there'd be no schools, no seminars, no conventions, no newspapers, and no need for the internet.  And it should be pointed out that nobody can make YOU feel "stupid" except one person and that's YOU!  "...there are no stupid questions, just stupid people."  Now go forth and learn.

Please remember, this is an ongoing "work in progress"!

Yes, I know things are a bit haphazard.  Yes, things are disorganized and you probably have to do a lot of looking around.  I'll get to it, as I can.  Ideas on what you'd like to see in here?  Let me know.
